Bhangarh Fort (a.k.a. Bhangarh Rajasthan) is a fort that was built in the seventeenth century by King Sawai Madho Singh’s order around 20 miles away from Thana Ghazi. At that time, the Bhangarh place consisted of 1,306 people living within 200 households. Today, these precincts are still quite well preserved. Bhangarh ghosts are said to now inhabit the fort, which was abandoned soon after being built. At that time the area was said to have been cursed by a magician. Today many people say that the area is haunted, which is why nobody is allowed to remain in Bhangarh Fort after dark. In fact, there is actually a notice put up by the Archaeological Survey of India at the front entrance of Rajasthan’s haunted place saying this. Of course, there are a variety of different ways in which people claim that about this spooky fort inhabited by the Bhangarh ghosts.

Legends of the Bhangarh Fort Haunted

One version of the legends about the haunted fort of Bhangarh in India is that a sadhu by the name of Baba Balanath lived within the Bhangarh’s haunted fort. It is believed that he established an injunction by which his house was to be the tallest in town. If any house was built taller than his, the fort town was to be destroyed. Another version of the legend about Bhangarh Rajasthan haunted is that Singhiya (a black magic wizard) fell in love with Princess Ratnavati. One day when she went shopping for lttar (perfume) Singhiya took notice and replaced it with a potion that was meant to ensnare her in such a way that she’d marry him. The princess saw this trickery and when the lttar was offered to her she through it on a nearby boulder instead. The boulder rolled towards the wizard crushing him but before he died he cursed the village saying, “The moment the shadows of your palaces touch me, the city shall be no more!” So, nobody else was able to live in Bhangarh Fort. 

Afterwards there was a Mughal invasion wherein everyone was killed. Since then, it’s believed that paranormal activities occur at night at this Bhangarh haunted place.  There are even some deaths that have been reportedly caused by these paranormal activities.
